I'm Shawna. Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
(I'm the more happy, less scared looking one.)
I bought my very first home, which I'll tell you all about in my next post, and started this blog as a way of documenting all that comes with being a homeowner! I have a LOT of work to do to make this place my own and there are sure to be a lot of wins and fails, hilarious and heartbreaking moments, blood, sweat, tears, and money spent along the way.
But I'm not just a homeowner - I'm a health care provider, a runner, a book worm, a soccer fan, a home cook, an aspiring calligrapher, a wine drinker, a skier. I'm a girlfriend and a sister and a daughter and a friend. I bake wedding cakes, ride motorcycles, and am teaching myself the piano. I'm a snob about cookies and exercise clothes and beer and curtains and Mexican food. And I'll be sharing those things here, too.
Welcome to Rose City Home :)

Love Story
It was a hot (at least by Portland standards) day in July, a Friday. I had been searching for The One for what felt like forever, and little did I know, my life would change that afternoon.
I pulled up and stepped out of the air conditioned car to a wave of hot, humid air. You caught my eye at first glance and as I took time to size you up I became more intrigued. Within just a few minutes I came to realize that you had everything I was looking for and so much more. This was it.
Over the next few weeks there were countless conversations, exchanges of deeply personal information, and complete analysis of my finances, and finally, we were given the green light. I signed the next 30 years of my paycheck away and then, you were mine.
This blog - Rose City Home - is a love story between a girl and her very first home. I hope you like it!
Up next: the introductions.
